This beautifully delicate and detailed Rosa Parks portrait is part of a series of prints of inspirational women. Perfect to hang in a room where you want to evoke energy and inspiration or to spark interesting and educational conversations. It is a perfect print to display in an office or studio space, or perhaps even a child or teens bedroom.
Rosa Parks is a very important figure in American history due to her contribution as a civil rights activist. Rosa was among many black Americans who longed for equal rights within a predominantly white population. In December 1955, her refusal to give up her seat to a white man on a bus led to the Montgomery bus boycott which was a monumental movement and helped bring the segregation of black people in the South to national attention.
‘Rosa’ was hand printed by Liz, founder of Slow Sunday, in her home studio in Bristol. Liz uses a unique papercut stencil and roller print technique to produce her beautifully textured prints. The handmade artwork has then been scanned and digitally modified to create the perfect print. The artwork is digitally printed onto artist quality soft textured bright white cotton paper. The paper has a lovely quality and is thick and weighty at 315gsm. Limited to an edition of 50 prints, each one is numbered, titled and signed by the artist.
Your print will be carefully packaged with cardboard backing and placed inside a card backed envelope to ensure it arrives with you safely. The print itself will be wrapped in a bio-degradable and compostable ‘cellophane’ bag which has been made in the UK from vegetable starch. These bags can be placed in either a home or commercial compost bin and will break down to CO2 and water which can then be reused in the ecosystem to make new plants.
Liz will add a handwritten thank you note to each order. If you are sending the print directly as a gift and you would like a gift note instead, pop a note on your order and this can be personalised with your own message to let someone special know you are thinking of them.
Charity Donation - Womankind Worldwide:
For each print that is bought, a donation of £1 will be made to Womankind Worldwide who support women's rights movements. They work hard to secure equal rights for women and girls so they can live without fear of violence, have a say in decisions that impact them and take control of their own life.
